Miami went medieval on that ass as we opened our headquarters for Basel Castle 2010!
After a week of preparations within the Castle itself, every stone block and rampart of the downtown lair was ready for one of the most talked about events of Art Basel week Miami 2010. After 3500 RSVPs, the list website simply shut down even as hundreds of art and music fans continued to want to join the party. As the line went around the block, the Castle gates swung open to reveal a carnival tent featuring skeeball by Tara McPherson, a wheel of chance by Ron English, darts by Mike Giant, and giant puzzle by Marc Bode. ABV had a pop up gallery featuring art from their Overseas and Undertones show as they did live art on the walls of the gallery. The Overthrow headquarters was turned into an exclusive VIP room where Han Cholo presented a freakshow inspired display of their retro inspired jewelry, Jose Cuervo Platino kept the tequila flowing, and there was plenty of cold Pabst Blue Ribbon and spicey Prometheus Springs for all.
Outside, the torches flared and the lights spun as DJs Troy Kurtz, Pirate Stereo, Tamara Sky and Damaged Goods hyped the crowd and Brooklyn rock band Sweathearts and Miami pop crooner JESP rocked live performances. Things started getting really packed as the castle erupted when Rye Rye took the stage with 3 dancers doing hyperspeed choreographed dance moves. When Theophilus London took the stage and laced the crowd with his electro soul songs, one of a kind dance moves, and personal drum kit, the walls nearly crumbled. The night closed out with Blaqstarr live and a special guest DJ set by LA Riots. In the end, an incredible night of art, games, prizes, musketeers, music, dancing, and partying left just the right impression for everyone who attended the Basel Castle.
Seasons Greetings to all the A-T-Hellians out there. Its your Overthrow Weatherman reporting live from Inferno.. to let you know there’s a snow storm heading straight to the underworld, and its looking like quite the beast!
I know what you’re asking. “Does this mean hell’s gonna freeze over?!” “Is Santa the antichrist?” Chill out party monsters. Whats wrong with a cold day in hell, when Sloppy Seconds’ got heat all night!
On December 11, Sloppy plays host to Baltimore’s rising rap royalty, RYE RYE, along with OT’s repeat offenders, Damaged Goods, & Tamara Sky!
Smirnoff is mixing more then just drinks, its mixing parties globally! They must have a huge swizzle stick!
Saturday Nov 27th, the Smirnoff Nightlife Echange Program is swapping MIAMI with LONDON, and its going to be a a bloody pisser of a night (was that right? I lost my limey thesaurus…)
What exactly does that mean?!
it means we are going to have FREE Smirnoff vodka all night long, and special guest, world famous British house producer Seamus Haji. Haji has worked with many of the biggest names in music, including Kaskade, Rihanna, Moby, Mika, and more. His track “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” went to number 1 on the UK charts!
Also playing will be King Britt (punny!) and Overthrow DJs troy Kurtz and Pirate Stereo.
All through the week, everyone’s thinking: GOBBLE! GOBBLE!
What everyone should be hearing is WOBBLE! WOBBLE!
Wednesday November 24th, come to Eve and give thanks to whoever invented the subwoofer!
Starring NERO, who have become a huge name in both the Drum and Bass and Dubstep scenes, often fusing both styles of music in their mind melting DJ sets. Having worked with everyone from Skream to La Roux, Deadmau5, Tiesto and Diplo, the duo of heavy producers has no shortage of high profile people to invite to their Thanksgiving dinner (if they weren’t British and celebrated Thanksgiving of course.) They also recently won the 2010 Beatport awards for best Dubstep Act and Best Dubstep Track for “Act Like You Know”.
This pre-Thanksgiving bass-a-thon does have its share of guests anyway, with a list of Miami’s biggest bringing their own to beats to the show.

Atlanta has no shame in its addiction to bass, and here lies the evidence. Overthrow recently brought Rusko’s OMG! Tour to the dirty south mecca for a sold out rage fest, also featuring our very own bass god, Heroes & Villains.
Coco Deville has a new, especially troublesome habit, and its something she just can’t quite stop: partying on Thursday night!
Starting this week, Coco’s Habit will be the new vice of Miami beach Thursday nights. Featuring residents DJ Troy Kurtz, Pirate Stereo and an incredible list of the best guest DJs who also can’t get enough will be cutting up the purest sets of nue-disco, dance, and other bumping unexpected hits.

While we wouldn’t recommend attending an actual parade of wolves, especially if you’re wearing your new perfume Sheep’s Breathe or pretty much anything made of wool, we highly recommend you go check out the band WOLF PARADE at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater WED Nov 10th.
Part of Sub Pop Records, one of the best indie rock labels over the last decade, Wold Parade bring their grand sound to the halls of Miami and show you why they have been one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed bands around.
Dont trust us? How about this little pull quote from Pitchfork?
“the band rolls like a Ritalin-deprived power-Bowie or 70s Eno flexing piano-based hooks over Pixified rhythms”
Booyah! Thanks well respected music critics for the back up!
Overthrow has teamed up once again with East Atlanta’s favorite Anti-Heroes, Cobra Corps, to bring you a huge dose of bass, house, chaos and everything dirty . This time they have enlisted the help of the UK’s legendary supplier of all things crack, Dj Zinc. for a night that will truly show you why Down and Durty is the official EAST ATLANTA CRACK HOUSE !!!
For those of you still listening to Zinc’s D&B classics, here’s the sequel:
Zinc, turned his back on Drum & Bass in 2007. Disenchanted by the lack of originality, DJ Zinc told his agent to stop taking bookings for drum’n'bass nights and abandoned the sound he once lived for. He took most of 2008 off to spend time with his young son and figure out how he wanted to move forward in his career, before returning to play a hybrid of house sounds. From deep house to funky house to fidget house, he ended up producing something that did not fit into any of these sub-genres. Welcome to the Crack House…
