The diabolical brains behind Overthrow bring you a video teaser of their upcoming mission to Sloppyville ATL… soundtrack featuring our trapstep dons, Heroes&Villains (aka DJ Meganfoxxx).
Join us this This Saturday for a night of blood, sweat, & bass as The O-Team’s Tamara Sky, Troy Kurtz!, and Damaged Goods turn Atlanta’s fabled MJQ into the den of sin you know it is.
I pity the fool who don’t bring a change of underwear!
NYC’s Team Facelift are a bunch of insane dudes who party like maniacs, cause moshpits at inappropriate times, and make songs for Girls Gone Wild videos. Naturally they are our homies.
TFL’s most recognizable character is The Fat Jew, a gentleman who got his name from his giant golden chi chain, bar mitzvah tattoos, penchant for eating kosher and non kosher food by the fistfull, and twice circumcised schmeckle. He is now starring in a TV pilot about an overweight hebrew who moves to the big city to become pursue her dreams. Yes, HER. He does the whole show in drag. And based on the two most important ratios for determining TV success of making out to vomiting and eating to drinking, this show is going to be Jersey Shore meets Seinfeld at a gangbang.
Italy’s recent electro renaissance has catapulted banger after banger out into the world at large, spawning the likes of Crookers & Bloody Beetroots. The latest edition to this superpower is Milan’s Congorock who followed his Beetroot brethren to reside in LA, subsequently finding a home in Fool’s Gold Records. A few month’s ago, Overthrow debuted Congorock to Miami during his “More Fire” tour and the release of his brand new single “Babylon.” Fast forward to now, Congorock is fresh off his world tour and Babylon is your favorite dj’s go-to track. Perfect timing for Atlanta to get a dose of this new renaissance.
The new video for homie Drop The Lime features so many Overthrow friends and fam it feels like watching the youtube video your boys shot while on summer vacation. BBQ time! Featuring cameos by AC Slater, Star Eyes, The Captain, Nick Catchdubs, Dust La Rock, and many more of the NYC/Miami party crossover crew. There may even be some Miami girls we all know and love who make an appearance! From Trouble & Bass’s Heavy Bass Champions of the World series, this track is a banger and the video is what would happen if there were speakers blaring bass music all over the city. Ahh, what a wonderful world it would be…
Nero are some of the leaders in the fusion of drum and bass and dubstep thats emerging so potently right now, and after doing their American debut in NYC and their venue destroying WMC set at White Room in Miami, we are big supporters of the most charming gentleman in the electronic music world. Despite that very English tendencies to turn into skin shedding snake lobsters and spin in 95 degree rooms wearing leather jackets, they are world class producers, performers, and bros.
Check their anime/vampire/futuristic sci-fi drama for mega track “Innocence” above. Its probably edited down version of some famous anime flick we are either too cool or too lame to know about.
New videogame, I mean video, for the lead single “Circuit Breaker” from Mark Ronson’s upcoming compilation album. Dude smashes everything in a cool way that never seems contrived or trying too hard. He just kinda does whatever he’s feeling, which clearly is awesome when whatever your doing is drenched in quirky charm, artistocratic privilege, NYC grooves and rock royalty. Its the self styled soundtrack to one of the hippest lives around.
Banksy went from being one of Scottland Yard’s most wanted to an international art sensation. Its incredible how fickle the legal system is and how a little intellectualization can reshape the perspective of crime. Where they used to paint over his work as quickly as possible, now the government stations guards to protect them and prevent people from literally TEARING APART WALLS to have a piece of his work.
True identity still unknown, the stencil godfather, satirical genius and leader of modern street art, Banksy has staged some of the most incredible stunts in art history including city wide graffiti campaigns, sneaking his own work and hanging it in the Tate Modern, but his past series and work are for you to waste copious amounts of time googling when you should be working. Check here for starts.
Now he is crossing over into films in a way only he could. He is releasing a movie called Exit Through The Gift Shop that is essentially an elaborate set up where he masterminds the whole thing and leaves people guessing, interpreting and conspiracy theoririzing. It is part mockumentary destroying the credibility of a wannabe street artist, part send of the entire fine art world, and part actual documentary of the biggest street artists in the world. It is sure to be another incredible piece of work from one of the great artists of our time.
The ATL crew led by DJ Smiles and Dell Harris White Light Syndrome are Overthrow fam from so many late night misadventures, on the fly performances, and collaborative trouble making that we can’t even talk about it (a look back through this site will show you plenty of nudity and near arrests to attest).
The group has just released its first music video, directed by another Overthrow homie and all around move-maker Corey Enemy. Making a special guest appearance in the video is our WMC 2010 special-edition Overthrow tank top. If the girl in the video wasn’t as attractive and nearly naked and the WLS weren’t friends, we would say it was the star.
Someone who was chilling at Switch’s apartment this weekend mentioned he might have had something to do with this punk track likely from M.I.A.’s new album, which based on this and the video for “Space Odyssey” , is going to be very different and super rad. The video is done by French director Romain Gavras (who directed the brutal-erific video for Justice’s Stress) who sticks with the gritty and hardcore anti-social commentary he does so well. And he might be a huge South Park fan. Just saying that this is probably Eric Cartman’s favorite video ever and that its funny to imagine the guy who directed this video on the couch stoned, munching on crepes, and cracking up watching France’s Le Central Comedy.
The collection of trouble makers, rule benders, and party starters who rule the halls of decadence at Louis in the Gansevoort on Friday nights are being joined by a true all-star Misfit this week as Rob Patterson performs a special DJ set.
Who is Rob Patterson and why is he such an accomplished Misfit?
He is in town running around with said Electra for her birthday and will joining Damaged Goods and the most reckless sexutantes in the city in a celebration that will rock even the most seasoned rap-core, Playmate fiance DJ.
Are you a Misfit?
