Miami went medieval on that ass as we opened our headquarters for Basel Castle 2010!
After a week of preparations within the Castle itself, every stone block and rampart of the downtown lair was ready for one of the most talked about events of Art Basel week Miami 2010. After 3500 RSVPs, the list website simply shut down even as hundreds of art and music fans continued to want to join the party. As the line went around the block, the Castle gates swung open to reveal a carnival tent featuring skeeball by Tara McPherson, a wheel of chance by Ron English, darts by Mike Giant, and giant puzzle by Marc Bode. ABV had a pop up gallery featuring art from their Overseas and Undertones show as they did live art on the walls of the gallery. The Overthrow headquarters was turned into an exclusive VIP room where Han Cholo presented a freakshow inspired display of their retro inspired jewelry, Jose Cuervo Platino kept the tequila flowing, and there was plenty of cold Pabst Blue Ribbon and spicey Prometheus Springs for all.
Outside, the torches flared and the lights spun as DJs Troy Kurtz, Pirate Stereo, Tamara Sky and Damaged Goods hyped the crowd and Brooklyn rock band Sweathearts and Miami pop crooner JESP rocked live performances. Things started getting really packed as the castle erupted when Rye Rye took the stage with 3 dancers doing hyperspeed choreographed dance moves. When Theophilus London took the stage and laced the crowd with his electro soul songs, one of a kind dance moves, and personal drum kit, the walls nearly crumbled. The night closed out with Blaqstarr live and a special guest DJ set by LA Riots. In the end, an incredible night of art, games, prizes, musketeers, music, dancing, and partying left just the right impression for everyone who attended the Basel Castle.

As a creative collective, Overthrow dives into Basel Miami Beach Week like a stripper at a mud-wrestling match who dropped her keys. See below for the full line up of events we are involved in or officially endorsing and join us.

The Overthrow is comprised of many different talents and individuals, all working collectively and independently to try and make everything around us and you more interesting, fun, and rad.
Recently, that attitude and work has been recognized by bescenemag.com , an online magazine that apparently likes to interview and expose people who are awesome. They just featured 3 Overthrow-ians, visual artist Stian Roenning and prodcution/DJ duo Caligula (Obi Tawil aka Damaged Goods and Mike Larson aka Grand Larsony).
To learn more about these agents, click on their respective pictures to read the interviews and gain some insight into the what, when, how, and why of some of the Overthrow’s central characters.
Summer anywhere can leave you hot and bothered, but only summer in Miami leaves you Haute & Bothered!
To celebrate the fashionable near nakedness and sexual hormonal spikes of Miami’s naughtiest season (whatever tourists and winter, locals get really scandalous during the summer), Overthrow’s Troy Kurtz made a mix that perfectly fits the sins of the city during the summer. Sophisticated bass, exclusive remixes, and sexy blends make this mix the one to drop when the heat becomes to much to bear without bearing a little more skin.

Wynwood’s gallery/lounge CAFEINA plays host to the official release party of this mix with Troy playing an extended Haute & Bothered set, and guest sets by Corey Sleazemore and Damaged Goods. To keep you cool and quench your thirst, we will be having drink specials all night.

Never trust a man with two first names. Unless of course he happens to be one of the realest friends you could ever have, and it helps if his moniker is running the gamut of your favorite blogs…
Atlanta based GREG MIKE is the nexus of several worlds. He is a formally trained studio artist who commands a rich understanding of street art, graphic design, fashion design, and commercial branding, packaging and marketing. In the past year, has been bombarding the art scene with his signature low-brow / street series “Popstars and Cokeheads.” First appearing in San Francisco’s esteemed Medicine Gallery last fall, then hitting home for his second show. Saturday June 12, Overthrow is proud to host the third stop at Butter Gallery in Downtown Miami’s Art District. Subsequently, we’ll be hosting the afterparty down the street at Bardot.
In homage to this fine venture, Greg Mike and Overthrow are releasing a collaborative T-shirt at the afterparty. We’re giving away 10 shirts and selling a limited quantity at a local boutique undisclosed until the day of the show.
Here’s a sneak peek of the goods:

Its not only how you play, but how you DISPLAY.

MATTHEW SANTORO from Matthew Santoro on Vimeo.
MATTHEW SANTORO is going to be the biggest thing since sliced heads. He is currently working on a his hollywood directorial debut film which is being executive produced by none other but John Carpenter.. .we find this really excited. Anyways, Matt is a childhood friend of Overthrow’s very own Alexis Mincolla, who you might notice has a cameo in this directors reel at around 59 seconds… ENJOY.

Overthrow Presents Deathface at the White Room 1/30 from The Overthrow on Vimeo.
Is murder an art?
Is the splatter of blood across a white wall like a stroke of the painters brush?
Is the slashing of flesh and the breaking of bones like a sculptor molding his clay?
These questions and more will be answered Saturday January 30th when Overthrow presents the return of The Art of Murder, the most diabolical exhibition of carnage ever considered an oeuvre. Perpetrated by the ‘Serial Killer of South Beach’ himself, Alexis Mincolla will reawaken the demons that drove him to create the largest body of blood soaked snuff films ever to hit a night club bathroom. Celebrities, DJs, musicians, models, scenesters, waitresses, children; his list of victims reads like a VIP guest list.
Rumored to have moved to NYC, it was recently discovered that the killing spree was only stopped after a court ordered junction put the madman in a home for the criminally insane. But now his time is up, and Mincolla and his killer crew are back and planning their next premeditated act of slaughter. No one is safe as word is this is going to be the most devastating massacre to date!
Featuring the lethal sounds of Deathface, the newest member of Brooklyn’s own Trouble & Bass assassin squad, expect the gore to reach new levels of horror!
BEWARE: IF YOU ATTEND YOU WILL SEE UNSPEAKABLE ACTS OF DEPRAVITY, HEAR SOUNDS THAT WILL HAUNT YOUR SOUL, AND LEAVE COVERED IN BLOOD!!!
It’s going to be a black night of evil at the White Room.
Arcade Saturdays - Come play. And die.
