After Basel, Miami suffered from a bit of post traumatic stress disorder, brought on by the best kind of cultural overstimulation and massive party saturation. A week went by and like a skid row crackhead going through social withdrawls, the next we damn near overdosed. With a biblical downfall flooding the street and trapping everyone indoors, Friday night hit like a booze soaked olive branch flown in the beak of a black dove.
Starting with The Rub’s Cosmo Baker and resident Damaged Goods dropping hammy jams at Misfit Friday at Louis in the Gansevoort South. By 3 am everyone was making out with everyone and the lust in the room was thick as the booze in the bellies. Strangers disappeared together and exes become born again bedmates. Bronques from lastnightsparty.com represented amongst the stream of sexypots, scenesters, and most of the DJs in Miami.

Saturday night on the other side of the bridge is when Partyocalypse commenced with Rusko, Spinstyles, Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz!, and Juan Basshead going in for the monthly Overthrow at Arcade Saturdays. Rusko did what everyone knew he was going to do, which was melt the mind, bodies, and souls of anyone in attendance with jams so hard that the foundation of the White Room in downtown Miami was shattered. What we didn’t know was how insanely hard the response from all of you would be. Capacity was reached fast and after Spinstyles dropped the new Imperial March Overthrow Dub remix, Rusko went on. Prometheus Springs fueled mosh pits broke out, crowd surfing Vikings sailed across the sea of hands that crashed and ebbed to every bass tsunami that Rusko threw out. He dropped remixes of his own remixes, new Gucci Mane collabos, and tons of his own personal stash of monster tracks. He also mentioned he is working with Diplo and Switch on M.I.A.’s new album. He also began working on electro-big band swing tracks in between his lunch and his dinner (seriously). In other words, he is from another planet where everything is more ridiculously rad and that you should try to check out as much of his alien awesomeness before he teleports back to Planet Rokbadassmegatron 12X.

Because Misfit Friday is too good to keep in one spot and because promiscuity is kind of our thing, the infamous Miami party is being shipped up to NYC Wed Dec 16th in a swinger-esque party swap. We will be doing our thing at Manhattan’s Simyone Lounge and doing we shall with Damaged Goods and Jessica Who? bringing that one of a kind Misfit music to the ears of the big appletons. Overthrow will provide the trouble and the frigid winter temperature will remind us why we are flying back to Miami.

It would appear that Overthrow’s very own Alexis Mincolla has wiggled his wormy ways into the big apple this passed week with his cameo in New York Magazine’s look book. It seems that editors were more interested in shinning a myopic light on the shadows of occult philosophy more than anything. Silly them.. did they really think they would scratch the surface with such trivial questions.

This week Atlanta reaches out to Louis in the Gansevoort South to touch the Misfits by sending over world famous producer Dallas Austin to guest DJ with resident Misfit Damaged Goods. Dallas Austin has made tunes for pretty much everyone from the late MJ to the late Madonna (wait, is she alive or is she technically a zombie at this point?). If we had a track record like this guys, we’d be sleeping on a pile of strippers on a beach whose name we couldn’t pronounce, but instead he is going to spin records for you while you drink, dance, and try to accumulate a pile of your own.

In a digitally distorted blaze of electro-house glitch, local party starter Panic Bomber, a.k.a. Richard Haig, has spent the last year going supernova. First came his six-track EP effort, Calling in Threats, a December 2008 release loaded with crunchy club killers like “Miami Stunnaz” and “Disillusionment.” (Cop it at PanicBomber.com or Bandcamp.) Next, Bomber won New Times top honors as Best New Electronica Artist of 2009 while also scoring media play in France, the faraway land where blog house was born. And now, almost exactly twelve months since his debut, the man with a name from a video game is giving birth to his first full-length, Getting on My Mind.
With a street date of December 15, Haig’s hyping the album’s imminent arrival via a promo campaign, “12 Days of Panic Bomber.” Starting today, anyone enrolled in the PB fan club will be rewarded with free daily doses of Getting on My Mind goodies, like exclusive live photos, secret remixes, and advance video previews. Then, next Saturday, the whole thing’ll climax when Panic Bomber takes over Arcade at White Room for a bit of Day 9 mayhem. Expect bright lights, incendiary blasts, and digitized dance floor destruction.
