RUSKO + THEOPHILUS LONDON GIVE YOU FREE MUSIC

We at Overthrow like to think we have a special eye/ear/private parts for talent. Using 2 of those 3 listed, we try to find and share emerging talent with our friends, enemies, frenemies, lovers, lovas, and strangers alike (we don’t discrimahate).
Two such talents that we brought to Miami and have stayed tight with are the dubstep superhero known as Rusko and the eclectic electric soulman Theophilus London. Since bringing them down, both have blown up like blog dynamite, traveling the world performing, mugging it up on MTV, and making more amazing tunes then you can shake a hard drive at. They can thank us later.
Now, as if magnetized by the polarity of Ovethrow’s iron core, have put up a wealth of jams for you to check out for free!

M.I.A. x Romain Gavras : Born Free Video

Someone who was chilling at Switch’s apartment this weekend mentioned he might have had something to do with this punk track likely from M.I.A.’s new album, which based on this and the video for “Space Odyssey” , is going to be very different and super rad. The video is done by French director Romain Gavras (who directed the brutal-erific video for Justice’s Stress) who sticks with the gritty and hardcore anti-social commentary he does so well. And he might be a huge South Park fan. Just saying that this is probably Eric Cartman’s favorite video ever and that its funny to imagine the guy who directed this video on the couch stoned, munching on crepes, and cracking up watching France’s Le Central Comedy.

Megan Foxxx gets Heavy

Megan Foxxx is a conspiracy.  Atlanta’s Heavyweight Bass Champion and Grand Hustle Records‘ token “crazy white boy”, Daniel Disaster aka DJ Megan Foxxx, has just dropped his latest mix entitled HEAVY, hosted by his trap rapping partner-in-crime,  Armani Reign. The mix is the soundtrack to Daniel’s new monthly bass riot under the same moniker.

Daniel and crew went above and beyond the call of duty to paint the “Heavy” lifestyle.  There promo video directed by Oh Snap Kid more resembles a proper indie trailer for the East Atlanta version of “Kids“.

Stay in the loop with DJ Megan Foxxx.

Forest Gump…Bobby Fischer…Rain man…Little Man Tate…SONIC C

While Sonic C may not have have a movie named after him (only a super powered hedgehog), he, like the men above, are all prodigies. Young geniuses who beat the adult world at their own game while seemingly being too young to possibly understand their virtuosity.

Or maybe hes just really good at partying. The youth starts young these days!

Anyway, Sonic C produced one of the biggest songs in the WORLD last year with “Stickin‘” the song with the buldup heard round the club world. But thats not all he has. It turns out the 17 year old wunderkid from Miami has a whole barrel of tracks waiting to be released and guess where hes going to be releasing the beast? Arcade Saturdays, a party whose name ironically references where most kids his age should be hanging out!

He will be joining resident smartypants Damaged Goods and Troy Kurtz!, both something of prodigies themselves.

All these brainiacs, we suggest taking notes.

Righteous Brutality, Wareheim be thy name?

HEALTH “We are Water” from Eric Wareheim on Vimeo.

This is the new video from Eric Wareheim, director of the “Pon De Floor” Major Lazer daggerathon video, half of Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, and some of the most disgusting and absurd mindfuckery that is also highly entertaining and completely anti-mainstream. This is for Health’s track “We Are Water” and justice hasn’t been this gory since Kill Bill.

Overthrow Launches Online Gallery, Photographers Smash Cameras in Protest!

We are finally launching our own gallery online so we can share with you the terrible things we do on a regular basis. To get things started we put up a ton of pictures from Winter Music Conference Week 2010 in Miami including pictures from all the different media outlets that covered our events and shots from the events themselves. That means A TON of pictures, and for those of you not familiar with the metric system, enough to plug a very large digital toilet. I would name all the DJs, record labels, celebrities, scenesters, hipsters, porn stars, fans, venues, locations, dates, drugs, drinks, etc that are in this batch except naming the categories is taking too long so go through and identify yourself and your favorites yourself. The image picked for the link below is randomly chosen but in some way personifies the attitude of the rest of the pictures while not doing it at all. View at your morality’s own risk:

THE BLACK KEYS (LIVE!) | Fillmore Miami Beach | Sunday April 18th

1984blackkeys

The Black Keys are the two-man blues-rock group consisting of singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. The band’s name was inspired by a schizophrenic artist and friend who used the term “black keys” to describe things he disliked or people he did not trust. The Black Keys sounds come from its roots in traditional blues and psychedelic rock, a soulful combination of raw emotional song and heavy, sticky music.

After 4 smash lo-fi records that pair extremely well with Jack Daniels, cold beer, and spliffs, they have just released their first big studio album produced by Danger Mouse. Consider pairing it with red wine and casual sex.

Sunday night April 18th, The Black Keys will be performing LIVE at The Fillmore Miami Beach at The Jackie Gleason.

Tickets are on sale here.

Don’t be a Black Key, go check it out.
