This is what happened last time we brought D.I.M. to town.
Mega producer and festival fixture D.I.M. will be coming to Miami and setting off a bag of electro dance fireworks a day early July 3rd at Electric Pickle. Don’t blame him for the wrong date, he’s from Europe.
Also featuring DJ sets by Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz, and Pirate Stereo.
Italy’s recent electro renaissance has catapulted banger after banger out into the world at large, spawning the likes of Crookers & Bloody Beetroots. The latest edition to this superpower is Milan’s Congorock who followed his Beetroot brethren to reside in LA, subsequently finding a home in Fool’s Gold Records. A few month’s ago, Overthrow debuted Congorock to Miami during his “More Fire” tour and the release of his brand new single “Babylon.” Fast forward to now, Congorock is fresh off his world tour and Babylon is your favorite dj’s go-to track. Perfect timing for Atlanta to get a dose of this new renaissance.
Last weekend our friend and distinguished colleague Theophilus London made his second visit to town, bringing the house down at Misfit Fridays, and bringing the funk to a packed show the next night at Grand Central.
Theophilus was in full force, alongside longtime friends and collaborators Vashtie and the oh-so-soulful Jesse Boykins.
Pictures from Louis are available over at World Red Eye, while shots of Theo shaking Grand Central to the floor are here at 8MTS.com
Also: our friends Life.is got some great footage of Theo at Grand Central. Checkit HERE. boom.
The new video for homie Drop The Lime features so many Overthrow friends and fam it feels like watching the youtube video your boys shot while on summer vacation. BBQ time! Featuring cameos by AC Slater, Star Eyes, The Captain, Nick Catchdubs, Dust La Rock, and many more of the NYC/Miami party crossover crew. There may even be some Miami girls we all know and love who make an appearance! From Trouble & Bass’s Heavy Bass Champions of the World series, this track is a banger and the video is what would happen if there were speakers blaring bass music all over the city. Ahh, what a wonderful world it would be…

A celebration is underway at the Overthrow Castle.
Hitting newsstands today, our very own globe-trotting temptress, Tamara Sky, has just received the local title as Miami New Times “Best DJ 2010,” making her the first female winner in all the land of disc jocks. Before even having a chance to pop the tag off the crown, Tamara has broken an even radder record as the most provocative winner of any “Best Of” category in the history of Miami New Times. DJ nerd forums have have gone apeshit: psychoanalyzing her dj credentials, background check, citizenship papers, auditing her live mixtapes on repeat in search of a single train-wreck, and subsequently driving even more fame into the new queen’s cache.
Tamara, our hats will forever be tipped to you. As for her new committee of anti-groupies, the verdict is right under your nose:
“This girl will eat all your hate and shit out gold. So keep it coming…”
Over a year ago, we at Overthrow heard an incredibly talented and unique musician named Theophilus London and knew he would be a perfect fit for a Miami rager. After tracking him down across several continents, we brought him to Miami for a couple of shows that were even more impressive then we expected.
Since then, Theophilus London has grown into a huge international artists, making tracks with everyone from Mark Ronson to Sam Sparro, and being flown around the world for shows. He recently released a new mixtape I WANT YOU that rocked the internet and has music critics everywhere anticipating his full length album (coming out soon).
Now, we are proud to bring him back to Miami for 2 special events!
Friday night he will be performing a special guest DJ set at Louis in the Gansevoort, giving an intimate peek into his head and a chance to hear what has influenced him to make some of the best music coming out today.
Saturday he will be doing a full LIVE performance to start the Overthrow monthly party at Grand Central in downtown Miami. Joining him will be Overthrow DJ’s TKO (Damaged Goods+Troy Kurtz) alongside residents Mike Deuce and Jessica Who?
